Grant Awarded to Charity Goes Far
Southend in Sight awarded Independent Age Grant
The Southend in Sight charity are delighted to announce that they have been awarded a 2-year grant totalling £40K from Independent Age.
The funding is focused on the cost-of-living crisis affecting people over the age of 65. The grant has enabled the charity to recruit another volunteer and to offer a form filling service to anyone living in the Southend area with sight loss. This includes help with Attendance Allowance, Blue Badges and other benefits.
One to one IT support sessions will continue to be offered to help local visually impaired people get online. In addition, a free monthly lunch club will be organised where staff and experts will be on hand to offer advice and guidance on living with sight loss.
CEO Lucy Martin says: “We are very grateful to the Independent Age for their generous grant. A phone call to us to check on the benefits that someone living with sight loss is eligible for, could make a huge difference to their lives. We know that if you are blind or partially sighted it can be more difficult to access the right information, and that’s what we are here for”.
Please call the offices on 01702 342131 to book an appointment or for more information on the services offered.
