Charity Celebrates Vital Role
ECLO based at Southend Hospital offers ongoing support
Southend in Sight has their own ECLO based at Southend Hospital Eye Clinic, who is on hand to offer practical help and emotional support.
Tracey Meddle, is the Eye Clinic Liaison Officer, who is there to talk to you about your
eye condition and diagnosis, to guide you through the Certificate of Visual
Impairment (CVI) process and advise on what further help and support is available to you.
Tracey has been with Southend in Sight for for almost 5 years now, and during that time she has helped thousands of local people, their families and carers on their sight loss journey. Her busiest month saw this June with a record 182 patients.
Tracey says: “At the moment there is a longer wait than usual for appointments, but myself and the team at Southend in Sight can offer support in the meantime. We are all passionate about our work with people experiencing sight loss and we know we are making a
difference”.
CEO Lucy Martin says: “Our ECLO service aims to bridge the gap between local agencies and clinical staff, ensuring that no one falls through the gaps and suffers alone. We know that Tracey is very much valued in her role and local blind and partially sighted people have
greatly benefitted from her efforts. We are very lucky to have Tracey as part of our fabulous team!”
