Hamlet Court Road building for Sale

A statement from the Board of Trustees

It has recently been confirmed to Southend in Sight’s Board of Trustees that the building at 117 Hamlet Court Road, owned by the Charity, requires significant investment for our operational purposes.

The Trustees have assessed if the investment in the building

  • is aligned with the future ambitions of the Charity
  • is good value for money and directly benefits the local visually impaired community
  • will allow our building to be fully accessible.

In light of the above it has been decided that the Charity will not invest in the current building in Hamlet Court Road, and we are investigating the options for future premises.

Please be assured there will be no change in terms of the support, services and activities we provide for local visually impaired people.

Our charity shop will inevitably need to be relocated but we will endeavour to remain in the Westcliff or Southend area.

Whilst there may be some changes afoot at the Charity, we hope that we can build on our recent successes and find, in the long term, a centrally located and accessible space that helps us build a community asset for local blind and partially sighted people needing our help.
